On The Job TrainingNot all veterinarians decide to become pathologists early in their career and there are many who come to the discipline later in life. In those circumstances, it may not be feasible to enrol in a residency programme and the alternative is to train whilst working. It is possible to take all of the formal qualifications whilst working and the structure of RCPath examinations is probably best suited to this type of training. It is important that employers provide sufficient support to workers attempting formal qualifications. Financial backing is important but moral support should not be underestimated. The structure of the work undertaken contributes greatly to the progress made by the trainee. |
