The Scottish Agricultural College's Veterinary Service

The SAC Veterinary Servicehas eight disease surveillance centres thorughout Scotland (Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Auchincruive, Dumfries, Inverness, Perth, St Boswell's and Thurso). Veterinary Investigation Officers at those centres carry out gross post mortem procedures of farm livestock, companion animals and poultry and a range of other laboratory examinations including clinical pathology.

A smaller number of SAC pathologists at the Edinburgh Centre are involved in histopathological examinations of both farm and companion animal material. There are close links between SAC staff and veterinary pathologists working at the Moredun Research Institute.
