Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) Institutes

The BBSRCInstitute of Animal Health has laboratories at Compton, Newbury, and at Pirbright, Woking, Surrey. Within these institutes there are opportunities for veterinary pathologists to become involved in research studies on major endemic diseases (Compton) and epizootic diseases (Pirbright) of livestock.

In addition, the Neuropathogenesis Unit, which is based in Edinburgh, carries out pathology-based studies in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies of man and animals.
